MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the “MIFFLIN ICE HOCKEY” program is to develop a Youth Hockey Program composed purely of Governor Mifflin School District Students to participate in a Scholastic Ice Hockey League in the area. To accomplish this, opportunities for participation are presented regularly to the public. Further, the goal of the program is to provide an environment that supports hockey skills development that leads to a lifelong interest in the sport. Skill development by each participant is to be recognized promptly by qualified coaches to encourage players and maintain a high interest level within the sport which will result in greater retention of players.
Through development of the basic skills and fundamental knowledge of the game, as well as instilling team values, sportsmanship, and success via the team concept, the complete Mifflin Ice Hockey Program will flourish. Highly skilled players will then progress to the higher levels of competition. Advanced Level teams will similarly progress to higher levels of competition.
As the Program is developed it is very important that players are not discouraged from playing other sports nor distracted from their most important responsibilities as students. Although Ice Hockey is now a “year round” sport, participation in other sports is encouraged since the skills developed will transfer to the sport of Ice Hockey.
